Bird Photography : Photography Study Tour at Thane Creek

Photographing Bird is Tricky and challenging. Knowing this, we Photo Orb Institute organising Photography Study Tour at Thane Creek area and will try to explore the beauty of this area specially birds. This awesome place is natural habitat for the hundreds of bird species which are living in thousands of number is anyhow beautiful place to watch and treat for photographers.

Since 1994, the Thane Creek has been attracting flamingos in large numbers. By November, over 30,000 of these beautiful birds, along with their chicks descend in Mumbai and occupy the mudflats and the bordering mangroves. They stay in Mumbai till May-June, after which most of them migrate to the Bhuj area of Gujarat for breeding, leaving a small resident population.

Almost 90 per cent of the Flamingo population consists of Lesser Flamingos and the remaining are Greater Flamingos. A large number of waders are also spotted along with them.

The first essential element in bird photography is a sincere respect for the birds and their environment. In any conflict of interest, the well-being of the birds and their habitats must come before the ambitions of the photographer. First and foremost, we are going to shoot birds from a safe distance. Respect their spatial needs.
